Matt Schima is a Patrol Sergeant for the Cibolo Police Department and patrol fleet manager. Sgt. Schima was the Public Information Officer and Crime Prevention Officer prior to promoting to Sergeant. 

He has a bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurial Studies from St. Mary's University in San Antonio and a Masters in Business Administration through Texas A&M International University. During his time at St. Mary's he received the university's Presidential Award which recognizes graduates who exemplify the leadership ideals of scholarship and service as expressed in the mission of St. Mary's University.

Sgt. Schima graduated from the Alamo Area Council of Governments Police Academy in 2013 as the class Vice President.

He is a state certified Crime Prevention Specialist as well as Public Information Officer. He holds certifications as a bike patrol officer, Project Lifesaver Electronic Search Specialist and Instructor, Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (C.R.A.S.E.) Instructor, Child Safety Seat Technician, TCOLE Instructor, Stop the Bleed Instructor, and Field Training Officer.

Sgt. Schima has been awarded the city's Employee of the Quarter, Chief's Excellence Award (2014), Officer of the Year (2019), and Texas Crime Prevention Specialist - Overall (2020) by the Texas Crime Prevention Association. 

He is a regular contributor to HOA newsletters and the city employee newsletter on Crime Prevention topics. Sgt. Schima is the President of the Alamo Area Crime Prevention Association.
