Certificates of Occupancy

Did you know that all businesses in Cibolo are required to have a Certificate of Occupancy?

Arrows BlueCertificate of Occupancy Application

Having a Certificate of Occupancy can be beneficial, and businesses may utilize support from Economic Development staff for:
  • grants
  • technical assistance
  • free promotion in the Cibolo and Chamber business directory, and
  • participation in promotions such as Small Business Saturday.
The City will assist businesses with achieving an official Certificate of Occupancy. Letters will be distributed beginning April 5 to businesses without a Certificate of Occupancy on file. Certificates of Occupancy are a legal requirement per Section 20.3.10 of the Cibolo Unified Development Code and Section 111 of the 2015 International Building Code. The one-time fee is $250 and is required for the application. Please fill out PDF document of C of O and attach the document to the Online application found on our MGO site.

Code Enforcement staff will follow up with businesses who have not contacted the City of Cibolo within 45 days to begin their Certificate of Occupancy application or provide proof that they have a Certificate of Occupancy.

What if I have a home-based business? Home-based businesses do not receive a Certificate of Occupancy; however, they are required to fill out a short Home Occupation Affidavit to be included on the Cibolo Business Directory and receive support services from Economic Development staff.
