Backflow Prevention Online Monitoring Program

Backflow letter

The City of Cibolo has engaged Vepo, LLC of Hockley, TX to provide the City of Cibolo with an Online Backflow Management Testing Program. Letters have been sent out to homeowners who have a backflow preventer device installed and per our records are due to be inspected. These backflow preventers are required by TCEQ at cross connection points (where drinking water can be met with contaminates). These are common with residential and commercial law irrigation systems and stop any fertilizer or pesticide from possibly entering our water system. The attached letter is an example of the notice sent out to homeowners to make sure the backflow preventer is operating properly. The color of the bar at the top of the letter indicates the urgency, with the red bar indicating that if compliance is not met, citations can be issued by the City of Cibolo. Vepo, LLC has provided a list of registered contractors in Cibolo licensed to do the testing. Contractors can reach out to Vepo directly to be added to the provided list. Please reach out to the dedicated phone line or email address with any questions you may have.

Currently, the City requires all backflow preventer assemblies to be inspected every year with the following exceptions allowing testing every 3 years:

  • Residential lawn irrigation that does not include fertilizer injection or pumping parts
  • Property is not adjacent to the 100 yr. flood plain

Here is a link to the list of registered testers.
