Cibolo Citizens Patrol

COP vehicle

As one of the fastest growing cities in Texas, we are proud to also be on the list for Safewise’s Safest Cities. As we grow, so does the demand on police services. From motor vehicle accidents to found property to major crimes against persons, our officers and detectives are working very hard to keep Cibolo safe.

While our numbers in the force are attempting to catch up to our increase in residents and calls for service, our partnership with the community when it comes to reporting crime is essential. We have developed two classes to assist dispatchers and officers in deterring and solving crimes.

Citizens on Patrol 1

The Citizens on Patrol I (COP I) class teaches how to be a skilled observer in the areas of suspicious situations. Attendees are taught how to properly describe people, vehicles, and situations so they are most helpful to responding officers. Personal safety is also covered in this class. Graduates of COP I are eligible to attend COP II. The skills learned in this class can be applied to any location at any time.

Citizens on Patrol 2

The Citizens on Patrol II (COP II) class takes the concepts of COP I and applies them to the department provided Cibolo Citizens Patrol volunteer vehicle. Attendees learn how to use the vehicle as it applies to volunteer patrol in addition to administrative and maintenance duties.

The vehicles are used for patrol within the city limits of Cibolo where there may be a recent spike in criminal activity or where the participant may want to concentrate in their own community. Participants are unarmed and non-confrontational. These extra eyes on the streets allow to us to multiply our efforts to keep Cibolo safe by the deterrence and reporting of crime in a quick and efficient manner.
